"To create opportunities for employment, upskilling locals, better housing and services in communities — for a positive future."
Mura Buai Enterprises Pty Ltd is an Indigenous-led enterprise based in the Weipa region of Far North Queensland, operating across Napranum, Mapoon, and Cape York and Torres Strait communities.
We are a construction, training and community development business — built on the belief that lasting change comes from within. By employing and upskilling local people, developing real infrastructure, and delivering genuine career pathways, we create the conditions for communities to thrive on their own terms.
Unlike external providers that move in and out, Mura Buai is here for the long term. We have local facilitators, local knowledge, and a deep commitment to the people and country we serve. Our model creates self-sufficient communities — not dependence.
Our vision extends beyond Weipa. Having established our model in Napranum and Mapoon, we are planning to expand into Thursday Island and other Cape York communities — taking the same proven system of local employment, training and community development to where it is needed most.
Mura Buai Enterprises Pty Ltd acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work and operate — the Alngith, Thaynakwith, Anathangayth and surrounding peoples of Cape York Peninsula. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise the deep connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country, culture and community.
Respect for self, for others, and for the work we do. We hold ourselves and our community to a high standard — because our people deserve nothing less.
Family. Trust. Development. Community is the foundation of everything we build — every house, every program, every opportunity we create serves this goal.
We remember the past and build to the future. Our culture is our strength — it guides our decisions, our programs, and our vision for generations to come.
We design, build and maintain housing in remote communities across Cape York. Our construction arm delivers new builds, renovations and ongoing maintenance — keeping work, money and skills in community. Our long-term vision is community home ownership: helping people move from renting into owning their own homes.
From paid work experience and traineeships through to full apprenticeships and administration roles — we create genuine, structured employment pathways for community members, with preference given to locals.
We aim to promote targeted programs for youth, those affected by domestic violence, people transitioning from incarceration, and community members seeking to reconnect with country. Working alongside Clontarf, Stars Foundation and government partners.
Community leader and driving force behind Mura Buai Enterprises. Fritz brings deep cultural knowledge, community trust and a long-term vision for building self-sufficient Indigenous communities across Cape York and Torres Strait.
Experienced in business development and operations, Phil leads the strategic and commercial direction of the enterprise — bringing structure, systems and partnerships that enable the business to grow and deliver.
Alongside our directors, Mura Buai employs a growing team of local tradespeople, training facilitators and administration staff — all drawn from Napranum, Mapoon and the wider Weipa region. Preference is always given to community members, and every role we create is another step toward the self-sufficient communities we are building.
